Homepage and Rules 6-3-2022

Dear Visitors,

6-3-2022

Please understand that the way it has been with uploads of the Book is that pages are deleted as soon as readers at the time had finished reading due to an understanding with WaterWeed.  So every time I rerun, pages read by readers will be taken down before new ones are put up.  It is not as simple as releasing a password.  Time has to be spent putting them up page by page again.

As we are busy fighting the COVID-19 pandemic situation which has now hit people close to me and numbers are increasing here geometrically, I can no longer do reruns.  Work and family come first.  Sorry, no more updates for a while.  Be back soon.  I hope.

To Gaby and Darcy:

Thanks for checking on me.  I am still in recovery.  Things are difficult on all fronts and complicated by the unstable situation here and the general pandemic.  We all suffer.  Peace and health are a luxury nowadays but I count my blessings.

To All who have put in requests and followed from time to time:

I shall put up what I have translated of the book again for a limited time and from time to time only, not at fixed or regular intervals.  I will try but I am tied up, so it may be days, weeks, or months between updates.  Previous rules applies for obvious good reasons which I will not repeat or elaborate.

Two surgeries in twenty months and bored at my job at which I suffered a fate like that of Sisyphus, I decided to try Chinese Drama for a change.  I turn on the TV for the few hours I am at home as background noise and try to relax for a little bit before I catch a few hours of sleep and go to work again the next day.

I love period drama with historical backgrounds.  I am hooked on “The Long Ballad”.  I cannot stand the hairstyle of Chang Ge, the heroine in the drama, but I still want to watch it. Wu Lei  grew up  and has depth as an actor – great!  He is very cool in the drama especially when shooting arrows.  Dilraba Dilmurat is mesmerisingly beautiful despite the unflattering costume she had to be cast in.  Every character either looks handsome or is dressed good-looking.

And I get to learn a few more lines in Putonghua and reading in traditional Chinese.  Why not?

By the way,  I have never seen anyone as beautiful as Dilraba Dilmurat.  But that is just me.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are beautiful people whom one does not warm up to or like.   I find her pleasingly beautiful and amiable.

Wu Lei has appeared on screen since he was a baby and has been acting since he was three.  It is strange watching him now a grown man riding a horse with Dilraba Dilmurat in his arms.  you can watch him as a kid in Chinese drama series still online and him in “The Long Ballad” leading his Asiatic Steppes people as a warrior prince/general at the same time.  Magic of the film made people bigger than life and attaining status of gods who were the only beings able to transcend time and appear in the past, present and future in different images and that is why we have idol worshipping.  Nothing serious as long as we remember idols remain idols.

I am staying home during the pandemic and found that Faith is still available on VIU TV.  The whole series in original Korean language is online for continuous viewing free of charge.  If after 8 years you still want to watch it again, this is a legitimate channel where available in your region.

I thank Now TV- VIU TV for being generous in putting up whole series of various drama without limitations.  During homestay due to rehab after surgery, social unrest and the pandemic, entertainment is still available easily free of charge at my fingertips.  There are ads and I do watch the ads from time to time to contribute as a viewer.

Have not been well.  Thanks for visiting from time to time.  Enjoy the wonderful world of Korean drama.

Still watching Alice… and scenes from Faith kept emerging.  Hard not to notice and reminisce.

Remember the scene where Choi Yong sat outside Eun Soo’s door while she is in bed and he guarded Eun So? He was solemn and felt he was in too deep to eventually part with the woman he had fallen in love.  Then he closed his eyes.  I loved that scene.  Other than the same iconic scene where their eyes met in the lecture hall, tonight (Spoilers follow), Joo Won sat outside Kim Hee Sun’s room talking through the door with his back against the wall and slowly closing his eyes guarding his precious who is lying in bed, only this time, it is mother.  Or not. Or would be.  Or not. Or was.  Or not…

Then just like in Eun Soo’s dream sequence finding Choi Yong dead in an empty house, in Alice, KHS also finds JW dead and held him in her arms, him covered in blood, her, drenched in tears while her true self is whisked away in another universe, or timeline, or wherever, whatever, whenever…(the OST)

Wow, the actress doing the same scenes in yet another time-travel series would know that she is doing the same scenes.  But here in Alice, dad is just too good looking.

They are running out of ideas in dramaland.

3-9-2020

Hope everyone is well during the strange and trying times of the pandemic.  While doing therapy on my shoulders, I watched the first 4 episodes of “Alice”.  This is the new drama starring Kim Hee Sun and Joo Won in half hour episodes.  Spoilers… at the end of episode 4, Kim Hee Sun’s character and Joo Won’s character finally met. To my surprise, it is the same iconic and powerful scene in the same time travel context with Kim Hee Sun doing the same thing when Joo Won walked in looking for her.  Their eyes met and their fate sealed.  This is just how Choi Yong first met Eun Soo in our favourite drama “Faith”/”The Great Doctor”.  It is just that this scene in the new drama is more satisfying in terms of passion, but nothing romantic here.

They repeated this scene and I was thinking, would Kim Hee Sun remember doing this same scene, deja vu, already, given that she is the same actress?

You may want to check out this new Sci-Fi drama.

Concentrating on recovery.  Will not be able to devote time to translate.  Can do short tasks on computer and read online.  So, no new additions to Faith the book.  Will update site on short articles from time to time.

10-3-2019

7 weeks after surgery, it is still difficult to do anything.  First 2 weeks was painful but hopeful. Optimism went downhill from the third week onwards.  Even lifting a cup is heavy and brushing my teeth is a long chore.  It will be about 18 months before recovery. And I would not be 100% like before, hoping to get 70%.   The last 7 weeks have been total paranoia, boredom and frustration.  I dread going back to work – or even going out of the door of my home at all.  I sat in front of the tv sometimes and nothing goes into the mind.  Alhambra could be the last thing I wanted and could write about at leisure.  I hope it doesn’t rain – cannot hold an umbrella and cannot get a ride.  Sorry folks.  Sorry I could not go on and sorry for moaning about this.

8-2-2019

Had some time to watch drama, so I wrote about my thoughts about Nine and Memories of Alhambra. Click on the right to read.

24-7-2018

And that’s it for now.  If I have the time, I will continue with Chapter 4 of Book 2.  Busy season at work now, and my steps have become slow this whole year.  Sorry.

Thanks for sticking with me.

This blog is dedicated to TV drama, mostly Korean drama and especially the Goryeo period drama Faith aka The Great Doctor.  If you mistook this blog as a religious blog because of the word ‘faith’ or for that matter, a folk medicine blog because of the word ‘doctor’, we are sorry for any inconvenience caused.  However, please do not follow this blog for the sake of following just because of the word faith or just in case there should be any link to any religious belief.

This is because in doing so, it would be disrespectful to the faith or religion, whichever that might be.

Here we respect faith or religion of different culture and tradition and certainly would be in dismay and regretful if any faith or any religious belief be mixed up with drama and tv shows that we discuss here for fun.  We say this out of respect for your sake.

Thank you for your attention.

Dear Geneva, hope you are ok with Covid and nothing serious with your health, will be checking from time to time the blog (it is now an habit :), please take care and keep in touch.

    Gaby
ps.- Thank you again for the rerun!

  2. Gaby DeLee says:

Dear Geneva, I am reading the rerun! :), but yes, I think we are only few people reading it. I hope you can continue, eventhough I am not leaving a daily reply, I am always checking your blog! And, I love it you uploaded one batch of pages instead of 1 page:) Thank you.

    • Hi Gaby, please check email for password.

      • Jenny H says:

I came across your blog last year after watching the Faith k-drama. I really enjoyed reading your in-depth review of the characters and their relationships and was quite excited to see that you had started to post chapters of the book to read this summer. May I request the password for the next chapter? It is such a beautiful story and I would love to relive it in its written form. Thanks! 🙂

      • Please write back to say you will follow the rules and I shall send the password in a few days.

  3. Gaby DeLee says:

Dear Geneva, thank you for replying, I know you have issues with your health and now I was kind of worried that with Covid, everything seems worse. We are all now kind of ill, our lifes have changed in a way that we never expected. It has been difficult so I totally understand what you said. Thank you for granting me my wish, I have rewatched Faith this quarantine, and also, I am now a fan of c-dramas. The Long Ballad was my favorite and now I’m watching Ancient Love Poetry, which is the kind of genre I like (dramatic you know :)). No more kdramas for me, only from time to time I return to Faith.
Take care and I will keep checking on you! Blessings and thank you again for allowing me to read the book again.
    Kindest regards,
    Gaby

    • I switched to C drama also. I just let the latest series play on demand on cable when I get home from work. I live alone now and turn on the tv as background noise. I ran “The Long Ballad” on demand from ep 1 to the end a few times that way, sometimes watching, sometimes not. I like Dilriba in haute couture or ball gown, like in hwe Dolce and Gabana fashion show but could not stand the two long strands of hair she had as Chang Ge true to the hairstyle in the comic book. She did, however, looked as if she has just walked out of a page of the comic book as Wu Lei had said before. Watching Wu Lei grow up to be Ashila Chun is amazing! He was the silent kid in “Nirvana on Fire” with Wu Ge. Wu Ge used to hold him in his arms in magazine shoots before they did Nirvana together. I recommend “The Story of Minglan” (Zhao Liyin), “Ming Dynasty” (Tang Wei) and “Story of Yanxi”. I am playing “The Brocade and the Sword” on tv now.

      • Gaby DeLee says:

Hi! I actually just finished Nirvana in Fire, great history, amazing acting specially from Wang Kai. Story of Yanxi is one of my favorite, actually I am a great fan of Xu Kai (I adore that guy). Will try to watch the others except The Brocade and the Sword, not so fond of the protagonists.

      • Gaby DeLee says:

From The Long Ballad, I was really impressed by Wu Lei, he looks so manly and his character is soo good! I am now watching his career and waiting for his next work with Zhao Lu Si.

  4. darcydevenus says:

Hello Beautiful!!! I still love the tree. I have been back in the USA for 2 years now, and I miss Asia so much! I am sorry that you have been suffering from health issues. I hope that you get some time to rest, and stay safe. 2020 has been a crazy year for everyone!

  5. Gaby DeLee says:

Dear Geneva, how are you? long time not see. I have been away from blogging also, but now I returned for The King (Have you seen this drama?) and also to rewatch Faith. I wish I can read again the novel, hope some day you decide to post it again and finish book 2 because, as time goes by, I don’t think Song Ji Na will finish the history.. Faith still remains as my number one drama. I miss those old times 😦

I read you have a cirugy .. I hope you have fully recovered!!. It was good to write you, Take care!

    Gaby

    • Dear Gaby

I checked out your word press blog just now. Although I cannot read it, it looks interesting with the King. I hope you enjoy it. I am now past the peak of watching drama as a pastime. And Lee Min Ho still looks good and promising.

Thanks for checking on me. I have been going through a series of unfortunate events lately and the pandemic plus social unrest here where I live compounded the difficulty of coping and caring for those I am responsible for. Recovery was not a smooth sail to begin with and then I had to stop therapy due to the pandemic and taking care of the helper I hired to help me because she was gravely ill. I am now back to therapy but lost the strength, ability to sleep more than an hour or two, what little muscle I had left and pounds which I am having difficulty to gain back due to work, chores at home and the pandemic limiting activities. Everyone is going through tough times but for me, it seems too much lately. I try to say positive. I also try to take care of myself so I won’t be a burden to friends and my elderly parents. I try too keep my job which has also been a very difficult one even without the pandemic and social unrest. People are hard to work and deal with.

With respect to translating as a hobby, there isn’t motivation, strength or time. The series of unforeseeable and unfortunate events the past 3 years especially taught me to let go. That is not to say I should give up easily, but if it is taking focus off the more important, what matters, and affecting others, I learn to let go. It is not easy. Now I understand why Song Ji Na the writer gave up – she was letting go, not giving up. I have let go a number of things dear to me and I am sorry to say, this unfinished translation of an unfinished story is no where near the other sacrifices I have had to make.

Sorry, Gaby my friend. My letting go means letting you down.

I am glad to have you check on me and stay in touch. My email address is genevaashdene@gmail.com

    Hello Geneva,

I actually agree… to a point. I started this story because of LMH, but I finished it, because I fell in love with the whole thing. I was always curious about how Choi Young became the way he was. We knew why he was so morose, but I love to learn the history. It makes it a lot more poignant.

Healer is another personal favourite. Perhaps it was the music, but, I saw the link between the two pieces. Love them both. I love the Hero’s Journey. Granted, I don’t always watch all the parts of the episodes where this happens, but I do appreciate it. I think it brings out the humanity of the characters a bit more.

    Just my two cents.^^

  7. darcydevenus says:

Happy Lunar New Year!!!!! Wow! It’s going so fast!!! Thank you again and again! Loving this!!!

  8. darcydevenus says:

Happy Christmas and Happy New Year!!! I’m going to Japan tomorrow…. I’ll be back in a week or so. Hope I don’t miss anything. ^^

  9. Darcy de Vénus says:

You’re on lady!!! He’s also a ‘p’erson who is patient; pensive; perplexed, pious, perceptive, probable, perfect, precocious, ponderous, premeditated, pithy, piteous (only when dealing with 21st century women), pretty, pokey, pontifical (again, in a situation with his lady), private, placable, presentable, peaceful (what he really wants), pliable, powerful, playful, pale, presumptive, and really not wanting to pull out a dictionary….. I only did to check the meaning of some of these… I know them, but don’t use them much in sentences. ^^ …………partial to his one and true lady. There, I am a language nerd, and I had fun with this!!!! Have fun. Thanks!!! Again and again!!! ^^

    • Wow, totally outdone. This can be a way to teach kids reading and writing. I may try this when I do volunteer work again. When we like a character, we relate to him more and go to great lengths to find out everything related. A different way to motivate vocabulary building and reading. I read book 1 and book 2 in Chinese and that’s a challenge to me.

      • Darcy de Vénus says:

True. I am amazed by your Chinese skills… mine aren’t so good. I can speak… but try to read anything….. is insane. Hat’s to you! It would be fun if the kids were a little older…. and had some good vocabulary under their belt. But anyways. Thanks for everything!!!

      • Darcy de Vénus says:

I do speak Chinese. Not very well. Like a small child….. 6-7 years old. I lived a long time in Taiwan, and I was trying to learn it. So, I got pretty far… but I still cannot read many characters. So, yes, I am highly impressed. Continued thanks!!!

      • Now I should be the one who is impressed and amazed with you, dear. I speak Cantonese and read traditional Chinese. Faith was translated by WaterWeed in Simplified Chinese so I had to learn it to read it. You speak Mandarin… so we better continue in English.

      • TravelMusing says:

Just saw this comment thread. I had no idea that there was a Chinese translation for the first 2 Faith novels. Is it available in the market?

Would love to read them in Chinese!

      • The Chinese version is not for sale. The official books are Book 1 and Book 2 in Korean and in Japanese.

  10. darcydevenus says:

I’m going to go. I went to the Beomgeunsa Temple a few years ago…… and the COEX… I had to do that. Other than that, I am really happy with the progress I’ve made. I will continue to enjoy the time that I have here. I hope that it continues to be quiet. I can only hope. Well, thank you again for the updates, and for redoing the story. It’s fun to read it… as she’s going about. Much more insight into her mind. ^^

  11. darcydevenus says:

    Hello Lady,

I FINALLY made it to the War Memorial to see his bust. I took a picture with it. I’m such a sap, I was almost in tears, but I feel like my Choi Young journey has finally finished…. not with the story, but needing to see all the pieces that I can. What did that drama give me? Some incredibly gifted new friends. A huge appreciation for Goreyo. A curiosity to discover all I can about Korean history.

Really, I consider it something that changed my life. I started it because of LMH, but I finished it because I fell in love with the story, the history, the everything. I am in awe of the whole thing… to this day. I would never have cared so much if not for this drama. And you, Geneva, have helped to bring the actual story to me. I did buy the books, in Korean, but… they’re WAY beyond my level for now. I want to try, but I am still reading baby books… so I am glad that I have this, at least. I’ll stop rhapsodizing now, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the zillionth time. You have no idea…… really.

I’ll PM you our picture. ^^

    • Still in Seoul? I visited the War Memorial on Memorial Day and tears started to well up in my eyes. History tells us war is inevitable. I forgot, have you been to Bongeunsa in Gangnam and the Blacksmith Village already?

      • darcydevenus says:

Yeah. It is so true. I didn’t have a lot of time to look at the war memorial. I’m going to go again when I have more time to absorb. I went to see Choi Young. I did tear up when I saw him. It was like finding a friend I hadn’t seen in a long time. Still, thanks again. I need to go to the Blacksmith Village, and that will be the end of it. I think it’ll be amazing. I think I’ll go when it gets a little warmer. It is starting to be colder now.

If you’re in Korea, let me know. I still have some time here. ^^

      • Blacksmith Village is not much to see if you are not a Faith fan. It is just a short bus ride from Seoul. Bongeunsa is just an subway ride from City Centre to Gangnam and right in front of COEX, the shopping mall. It is a tranquil temple visit. Should go when they have the lantern festival and parade. But it is decorated differently according to the temple calendar so each time I go, it is different. I am afraid I won’t be coming to Seoul anytime soon. The political situation is worrying and more family duties recently. Thank you for thinking of me.

  12. darcydevenus says:

So fun! I want to go visit him before it gets too cold. Again. I think if I go in a couple of weekends, that’d work. I’m busy this weekend. ^^ Thank you so much for putting up what you have done. We appreciate it. ^^

  13. darcydevenus says:

    Well Hello Geneva,

I still come here from time to time. My Haegeum teacher made me a version of ‘Carry On’ for haegeum. Still love the song. Re-watched the drama earlier this year. Apparently in Japan, it’s still selling like hot cakes in winter. Still need to go see the bust of CY at the War Memorial, and probably will… I want to get some ‘Goreyo’ porcelain… I understand what that is because of this drama. Gonna visit the real CY one more time before the end. Who knows how much longer I’ll be here.

Always keep the Faith. I believe that we will be alright. Smile, enjoy Faith again, and yup. FAITH!!! a happy subscriber…

    • I am so glad you are playing the Haegeum! I have a pain in my shoulder and then a pain in the arm, so I can no longer play the cello. Why don’t you try playing the song Dong Yi plays in the drama while she was sitting under the tree crying because she could not reach the king?

Leaving S Korea because of the mounting political tensions? I cancelled all plans to S Korea. I have also been watching 3 Meals a Day instead of just drama.

Book 2 chapter 1 now rerunning for old times’ sake, dear friend

      • darcydevenus says:

Thanks for the rerun… even if it’s for one chapter. I am still here. I follow the political climate as carefully as I can… without freaking out about it every day. I am still here, and I hope that South Korea will be here for a while longer. Really love it here! I’m scheduled to leave next year. I’m optimistic that things will still be okay. I do be careful though, and really pay attention. The song from Dong Yi would be lovely. I don’t know where exactly I’d find the name for it though. ^^

      • Check email. I looked for it under the song that Dong Yi played with her haegeum or korean violin and found it.

      • May be more than one chapter.

  14. darcydevenus says:

Hello Geneva!!! I just thought I’d pop in. Did you know that ‘Carry On’ is still one of my favourite songs?! I can’t believe it’s been so long. I am still hoping that she’ll finish the series. But, for now, I’m enjoying other things. I think this was one of the most under-rated dramas of all time!!! But that’s my opinion. Anyways, thanks again. I had such fun following the story. ^^ I hope you’re having an amazing year.

    • Sorry for not posting due to work and illness. Have on to carry on with other things. Are you still in Korea? Watched the news and it is getting a bit worrying with the political unrest and the international situation escalating. Take care.

      • darcydevenus says:

Hi Geneva. Yes, I’m still in Korea. Talk about political climate! Although actually, since my students are very young, I don’t often get to talk about politics. But, I do follow what’s going on a fair bit, and it’s crazy. I am proud of the people though. They were protesting in a positive way. Very few if any were hurt… (according to the news sources I’m able to follow.) and they were able do it in an orderly way. But, it’s still crazy. Not just here, but everywhere! Stay safe, and thanks again.

  15. ororomunroe90 says:

I can’t believe it’s already over. I missed reading the first 30 pages so Darcy is luckier than me lol. Many thanks for translating!!

    • Thanks for following

    • Gobby says:

      Dear Geneva,

You just finished book 1? Will you start book 2? I really hope that there is a chance we can have more books coming but it’s really too hard when the writer is not writing it anymore.

But do you know Miss Kim will be playing one of a special character in an upcoming China TV series, her new looks like goddess.

      • Dear Gobby, I translated Book 2 up to Chapter 3 and then found out that the author has stopped writing the story and no one was following my translation at Baidu after the long hiatus I took. I lost all motivation to CARRY ON. The awkward Chinese costume made Ms Kim look chunky and though the story may be original, the character costume design is not and looked more copycat to Lord of the Rings. But then again, it may still turn out good. I am reading your novel at the moment with a goddess-like Ms Kim you illustrated in mind.

      • I just finished the rerun of Book 1 here. I finished Book 1 long ago.

  16. darcydevenus says:

I can properly sob now. Thanks. Just thanks for the rerun. I appropriately and completely loved it. I only missed one page. I guess I am lucky for that. Still, thanks for everything.

    • Which page would that be my friend?

      • darcydevenus says:

It was a few months ago. It was after you’d come to Korea, and gone… then you stopped posting the new pages on a separate page. You put them on the main page. I hadn’t received any notification about it, so I missed it. It’s okay though. Thanks for what you’ve done. ^^

  17. darcydevenus says:

Only one word to say… CHEMISTRY!!! They have such amazing chemistry… even in the book… wow! Love the descriptions. Thanks as always for the amazingness!!!

  18. darcydevenus says:

Creepy. Very creepy to know Gi Cheul’s thoughts. Still, thanks for opening it up for us. The readers.

  19. darcydevenus says:

It’s interesting to read the actual inner turmoil coming from the king. Love the introspection.

  20. darcydevenus says:

I love seeing inside the doctor’s head!!! This is so interesting to see! I am suprised, but not. I like getting his backstory.

  21. darcydevenus says:

The secret identity will be discovered soon. Even though I bought this book in korean, it is so nice to reait in English. Thanks again for the rerun. I am so glad that I didn’t miss very much.

  22. darcydevenus says:

Lady Choi is finaĺly here. She was another favourite of mine. THANKS!

  23. darcydevenus says:

Sob! Gasp! I missed a page?! I didn’t know you were already back home from your trip to Korea. I’m just glad i only missed one. I’d been doing so well!!!!! I only hope that my Princess NoGuk didn’t have too much or any dialogue on it. 😥 Still, I hope you had a great trip. And that you made it home safely. Thanks again for your great translations!!!

  24. darcydevenus says:

Thanks SO much!!! I will definitely go and find him!!!

  25. darcydevenus says:

I can’t believe it is already almost over!!! I’m rather sad about it. I always look forward to the next few pages. I guess in a few weeks… there won’t be any more. I’m sad about that. Still, thanks for your continuing amazingness!!! If you come to Seoul, you should come north a bit. I can take you to visit the real Choi Young. He’s amazing. ^^

    • I am coming to Seoul next week, but it is too cold to go see the General’s grave. Thanks for the offer, dear chingu.

      • darcydevenus says:

Have a great time in Seoul then!!! I appreciate all you do for us!!! ^^ if you want to get together, let me know…. I don’t work the beginning of next week, and have no set plans… still, you’re probably busy. Have a great time!!!

      • I won’t be there until next Wednesday afternoon and staying in Myeongdong because it is the first and second day of the Lunar New Year. You are not in Seoul, right? I do not want to impose, but which district of Seoul are you in ?

      • darcydevenus says:

I don’t actually live in Seoul direct. I live in Uijeongbu. That’s why I suggested we meet up in Seoul. I don’t work on Saturdays….. if you wanted we could meet up. It would be so much fun… apparently there’s a head-bust statue of Choi Young at one of the Museums in Seoul… I have yet to find it. But if you want to get together, I’ll email you my phone number… or something, and it’s not a bother. I don’t have a lot of people that spazz out about dramas like I do. It’s always nice to meet someone who does. ^^

      • Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately, my friend and I are already booked on a tour on Saturday. Spazz out about drama here for the time being, chingu and we will meet next time I come to Seoul.

NoGuk Gongju!!!! She’s really spoken. I love her!!! She’s amazing!!!!! Woot woot!!! I wish I could go to Kaeseong and pay my respects, but that’s in North Korea… not going there. 😥 I’ll wish them the best from here. Maybe I’ll go visit General Choi again… it’s just SO cold now… and it’s a long walk. I will wait until it’s a little warmer. ^^

  27. darcydevenus says:

I think this is when he really starts to wake up….. the first stirrings of wakefulness….. that will happen when he goes through his fever… I hope we get to see it. That scene is heartbreaking. I cried the first time… heck; I still go and cry about it.

  28. darcydevenus says:

Once again, you are doing amazing things. I really appreciate your dedication to the story, and to the wonderful characters. Thanks again for making this second run. I missed so much of the first one that I didn’t read more than a coupole of pages… because I wanted it from the beginning. So, Thanks so much for giving it to us. And thank Waterweed… I’m guessing this person translated from Korean to Chinese. It’s amazing!!! Thanks again!!! Happy New Year!!! ^^

  29. Nayeema says:

Hey Geneva, during my vacation I have started watching the games of thrones series and completed upto season 3! I am loving it…however it scares me when each person i like dies….especially the wolves…I am yet to watch the remaining 2 seasons.
I’d like to thank you for mentioning this series here….It’s a great way to pass my leisure time.

    • Dear Nayeema
This is why it is not meant for children under 17 to watch.
      Next time say ‘Hi’
Wishing you a happy new year.
      Geneva

      • Nayeema says:

I should have listened to you…….i am just ….speechless….how can a father burn his own daughter…this series is just unbelievable…i cant believe it……this is what obsession for crown does to people….I am blessed to be born in this era where this type of vicious activity is illegal ..I should pray daily to express my gratefulness

By the way, do you prefer Hi then hello/hey? Just curious 🙂
Thank You and Happy Happy New Year! :3 ❤

      • Hi Nayeema
As you know, I am particular about rules though I also bend them once in a while. There is a time for everything. When you finish this one, watch shows meant for your age. The rule is there for a reason. Enjoy being young.

  30. darcydevenus says:

Thanks again for all you do. It’ll be nice to have regular updates again. I hope all the students did amazingly well on their midterms. Here’s to keeping it real!!! Merry Christmas to everyone!!! ^^

  31. darcydevenus says:

Well, I guess if she has really stopped… she’s stopped. SOB SOB SOB!!!!! I hate when stories are left unfinished. I guess we’ll never know what really happened in their heads…. or their story. I should still thank her though, because she introduced me to Goreyo. I’d only done Joseon before, but it got me interested in the time period… and WOW!!! I love her tortured heroes.

Thanks for uploading. We’ll get to see moments with the queen!!! I can’t believe that we haven’t met Aunty Choi by now!!! Oh well. It was meant to be a series of four. I look forward to it though. ^^Thanks again!!!!!

    • ororomunroe90 says:

So the translations have stopped? How did you know? I can’t see any notices.

      • No, the author has stopped writing the book.

      • ororomunroe90 says:

Oh, why did SJN stop writing? Did she give a reason? I hope she continues it one day. And I wwould love to see another drama of hers soon.

I’ve started rewatching Faith for the 5th time and I love seeing how the novel connects to the drama. I got my sister hooked on it recently. She binge-watched it over 3 days lol.

Many thanks for translating and happy holidays to you and yours 🙂

      • Click ‘The Faith’ scroll to older posts and read ‘Message from the Author’ dated 30-9-2015

      • darcydevenus says:

No, these translations haven’t stopped. This is the Author who stopped writing the books. The books we’ve got, that’s it.

  32. Thanks again, for your work!!!! I appreciate it so much

  33. darcydevenus says:

Thanks for your prayer of good will! Everyone is about Paris, and I’m a huge lover of France; it’s like my second home. There are so many places that are having strife now. My heart goes out to all of them. Not just Paris. Not just France. It’s a real situation. May those leaders find inspiration; and not focus on the differences. We need to find the similarities.

  34. darcydevenus says:

I’m waiting breathed… if that’s a word for chapter 4. Thanks again for letting us come into this amazing world!!!!

  35. darcydevenus says:

Only now did I realize that the operation wouldn’t be as graphic as in the drama. I like the hospital dramas…. but I can’t watch the operations very well. Even if they’re fake, I can’t watch them very well. I have a hard time with that sort of blood. Books leave that to the imagination, and so mine glosses over that part. Yay again!!! No need to skip bits… I always skip the actual operation when I watch the drama.

Enjoy your dramas! I have been watching some reruns too… but different than yours. I have seen all of the ones mentioned. Tragic in their own ways. No repeats there for me. It does end on an interesting note… some of them. Well, thanks again!

  36. darcydevenus says:

The Queen!!!! My favourite lady!!! We’re meeting the queen. Happy dance. It’s so interesting to get into everyone’s heads, not just ES or CY. Love it!

  37. darcydevenus says:

Woot Woot!!! Chapter 3 is starting!!!!!!!! On to Goreyo!!! Saving the Queen! and all of the Woodalchi. I love the side characters.

  38. darcydevenus says:

I just figured that if I ‘like’ the page, it wouldn’t matter when they’re deleted. Thank you again!!! The story is really underway! I really love getting into both CY and ES’ heads. It’s interesting to hear what the author wanted for them… really wanted for them. Love these two. I’m still holding out that she ‘may’…… someday finish the story. I have nothing but faith that she will. Pun intended. ^^

  39. darcydevenus says:

Thanks so much for letting us… me especially… know how to get to the tree. I found it, and the buddah too. I went over the weekend. I’m going to put together a ‘show’ on youtube of the videos and pictures… I’ll let you know when I’m done with it. But it kind of ended my ‘Faith’ tour. Unless there is one more villiage to visit…… but that’ll have to wait. The tree was quite a trip. ^^

  40. Sarah Hale says:

    • Rima, Tanzina, Maria, Nayeema … ah … you girls. The only thing I intend to rock in a few more years is my grandmother’s rocking chair. I am too old for high school language but appreciate your praises from the bottom of my heart.

  44. darcydevenus says:

Thanks again for the rerun!!! Good luck to those who have tests. Waiting patiently for the rerun of chapter 2!!!! 😀

  45. darcydevenus says:

I’ll comment here too. ^^ Thank you SO much for doing the rerun! I appreciate it. I’m sure everyone else does too!!!

  46. KT says:

I am dancing with joy and gratitude. Geneva, thank you from the bottom of my heart for rerunning your translation. I realize that posting 3 pages at a time requires dedication on your part and such task will add up to a substantial amount of your time. Bless your kind heart. 😘😘😘

    • Not so hard this time. I have actually finished translating all of Book 1 in July 2015. I am just proofreading three pages at a time now. I find it necessary to make a few corrections here and there of the first draft I posted which ended last month. Happy reading KT.

  47. Sarah Hale says:

Hey! Thank you for doing a rerun and congrats on getting 22000 views! you truly deserve it 🙂
Waiting for the first run impatiently
    Sincerely
    Sarah
